MISSION: To prove that anyone can do good.
BRUTE LABS uses design and technology to create sustainable social entrepreneurship. Our small, all-volunteer team has launched 11 projects around the world and across a broad spectrum of causes; from cyclone relief in Myanmar, to clean water wells in Ghana, to a bio-diesel project with Stanford. Our open source altruism has also garnered multiple design awards from AIGA and Adobe as well as partnerships with local businesses, the city of San Jose, Google, Nike, Facebook and many more.
BRUTE LABS was named to show the philosophy and attitude of the way we work:
BRUTE: Do whatever it takes to get something done -- even if you have to roll up your sleeves and and get your hands a little dirty.
LABS: We believe in constantly rapid prototyping and learning from our mistakes. We also want to be smart about what we do and be data driven.
BRUTE LABS achieves its mission through 9 essential principles:
We're out to change the world by pioneering new ideas and introducing new ways of thinking.
We sweat the big stuff: poverty, hunger, homelessness, global health, education and countless others.
The right design amplifies the impact of a good message. We use simple, user-friendly, meaningful design.
Life is too short to wait around to do something important. We act early and take risks instead of missing an opportunity to make a difference.
We want your help and we want you to get others to help. Rebuilding a city in the aftermath of a natural disaster or bringing clean water to those without it is work best done together.
We're not afraid of shaking things up a bit. We'll take the unconventional path over the conventional if it gets us there faster and has twice the impact.
Everything we do has to be measurable. 1,000 maps for the homeless. 7 clean water wells in Africa. 400 kids who are newly excited about being healthy. Accountability keeps us on track.
We strive to make every one of our projects something that anyone can do. Simple instructions, great design and plug-and-play solutions for social change.
This is the BRUTE in BRUTE LABS. We'll be scrappy to get the job done, but will never compromise on delivering professional and polished results.
